Project Description

The bridge crosses the railway station by the "May 1st street" in Zilina and connects both sides of the territory divided by rail.

The layout of the bridge includes a slender 7-span HPC concrete prestressed continuous superstructure with a total length of 343.7 m, with the length of two major stayed-cable spans of 2 x 75.0 m. A double-T cross section includes the bottom slab above piers and inside the main spans is suspended on transverse ribs and cables of the extradosed type on two transversally inclined pylons. The bridge is atypical with a low construction height of 1.8 m, with a radius of curvature min. 50 m and using of HPC concrete for superstructure and pylons.

The bridge in the edges is founded on high-diameter pilots, under the pylon are used micropiles. Walls formed by reinforced embankments follow up on both ends of the bridge.

Technologies and construction methods corresponds to building of the reconstructed railway junction. The superstructure in a major length of the bridge is beeing constructed on a fixed falsework considering windows for rail traffic, in part of the structure over runways with traction lines are used long-span beams.
