Project Description

A three-span motorway bridge with a combined cross-section of 26.7 m in width with a span of 50.0 + 72.0 + 50.0 m across a multi-track railway line at the Uhersko station, Czech Republic.

The rotation of two bridge box girders as an extraordinary bridge technology is realized due to the significant crossing of the bridge and the railway with the low height of the bridge deck above the track. The aim is to build a substantial part of the bridge superstructure on a scaffolding parallel to the railway track and outside. The bridge box is therefore divided in the middle into two parts and each of them is built as a separate structure on the opposite side of the track. Before completion of the parts, they are rotated in the horizontal plane by an angle of rotation of 34.65 ° (part of structure No:10) and 32.43 ° (part of structure No:20) with a final transverse slope of 2.50%. After the height adjustment to the final geometry, the closing lamella with prestressing cables will finally connect both parts of the bridge.

Rotation technology includes two essential components. The first is a rotating device on the piers forming a temporary support for a part of structure weighing 4,500 tons on a circular slideway with a fixed center of rotation on the head of the pier. The second is a rear steel support at a distance of 45.1 m from the center of rotation in the axis of the pier, with an integrated active drive unit, moving approximately at ground level onto a fixed horizontal reinforced concrete circular track founded on large-diameter piles.

The parts of structure are supported on each of the piers by four load-bearing interconnected rotating pots made of HPC concrete C70/85 in a steel casing. To ensure a safe start of the rotating equipment on the pillar, an auxiliary equipment with a load capacity of 2x 140 tons was built, which supplemented the main drive unit on the rear support at the beginning of rotation and thus ensured a smooth start even after a longer construction period than originally planned. The rear supports consist of V-shaped steel structures made of S355 profiles with an integrated 200 ton drive unit with a stroke of 1200 mm. LKM Consult s.r.o. has designed Construction elements of rotation technology individually for this special application. Experience with the HPC application for TRECOL SYSTEM bridge scaffolding was used to design the technology.
